I just turned my fuel screw to 1 turn out and it still pops and sputters on decel with the 48 pilot. I think it's time for a 50.

That would make it leaner - and I tried it yesterday. It made the problem worse. Tomorrow or friday I'll pick up a #50 pilot jet and try it.

The taper is the same actually, I lined em up side by side and they look exactly the same. So for people's setups that require the 4th clip, I'd say stick with the OE needle, at least on my 09 carbed version that's how it is.

its weird the 4th clip postion on the NCVQ needle is the same postion on the stock needle. Just so u guys know.

That doesn't mean anything, the taper of the needle is different on the NCVQ compared to stock. The 2004 and 2005 YFZ had an NDSR needle that is also a different taper and a leaner needle than the NCVQ. The NDSR worked better in my YFZ.

It does have the same taper as the needle in my 09 YFZ though, I forget the number. But yeah I knew that the 04/05's had a totally different taper thus the NCVQ is a popular choice for them.

I'm going to try the 45p that came with my bike back in the carb and see if that helps.. It popped on decel in stock form too though is the thing. If it doesn't help I'll go get a 50p and hopefully that does it.

My 2006 had a fixed needle with no adjustment and the taper was different than the NCVQ, I learned this when I set the clip position at a height the same as stock needle and then it ran horrible, called DAB Racing in Utah and he said it's because of the different taper of the needle and he was correct. Many people put NCVQ in because that is all they hear about on some forums. Kam at KBR dyno tuned mine and removed the NCVQ and put in an NDSR because it ran better with it.

Mine feels like it runs great just got the popping on decel.. But I don't really know what a 4stroke that runs like $hit feels like as I've been on 2 strokes my whole life till recently.
